Your help and advice was invaluable. You really instilled in us the importance of the words and that the sentiments of ceremony should reflect us and no one else.

Do you remember the film, ‘Cabaret?’ That was when Liza Minelli first etched herself onto my consciousness, in her bowler hat and fishnet tights. And I’ve never forgotten her clever mnemonic of the correct way to pronounce her name. ‘It’s Liza with a ‘zee’, not Lisa with an ‘s’ Cos Liza with a ‘zee’ goes ‘zzz’, not … Continue Reading

A good number of our friends said it was the best wedding ceremony they’d ever been to – I think we might be seeing a few copycat humanist ceremonies amongst them in the next year or two!

Two comments stand out in mind especially – one from my 75 yr old aunty who rushed up to me and said “well if that is an alternative lifestyle then sign me up now!” The other was from my 24yr old nephew who said “I never knew that weddings could be like that, I had decided that I never wanted to get married, but that ceremony has changed my mind.”

Before jetting off on their honeymoon, Paul sent me this old-skool Polaroid, and this lovely message. I know Heather has already been in touch but I just wanted to … Continue Reading

It was back in September 2011 that Natasha and Gavin first got in touch, and perhaps it was because their wedding was only a few months away that unlike most couples, Natasha was very clear about what she wanted from the start. She told me that she’d already booked a pianist and a violinist, and she … Continue Reading

I got some lovely cards this Christmas, but my favourite came from Heather and Mike. Unlike normal people, they didn’t send me Jpegs, but instead posted proper photographic prints, with captions hand-written on the back. This one said, “This pretty much sums up the feedback we got on our ceremony! The best endorsement was to … Continue Reading

There was a lot to love about this wedding, not least the way it started, when Woody came in with his mum and dad on each arm. In a traditional ceremony, the groom’s parents are just two more guests; this is a subtle way of saying, “I’ve got a family too, and they’re … Continue Reading
