Sarah knows what you’re thinking…. all those people who said, “you’ll meet an Aussie and fall in love” were right!
Their story began in the Australian summer of 2013. Tyler was managing a bar where Sarah and her best friend (and bridesmaid), Lozza got a job. They were supposed to be there for just three months, but the moment Tyler laid eyes on Sarah, he was hooked.
Half joking, half not, Tyler told his friend, ‘the new dark-haired girl with big eyes, I’m going to marry her’.
He had that gut feeling she was the one – even though he knew absolutely nothing about her, but after several months of hard yakka, he was starting to feel he was getting nowhere.
On a night out in a dingy nightclub he told Lozza he thought he should move on, hoping she’d tell Sarah.
It worked.
A few minutes later, Sarah parted the crowd on the dance floor, made a beeline for Tyler, and they had their first kiss, on the steamy, sweaty dancefloor.
After a few months of dating, and several phone calls home to Scotland to tell Sarah’s parents she had changed her flight home, yet again, Tyler and Sarah had a discussion.
Was this a summer romance, or did they give it a go? Well, the answer to that question came 11 years later, when half of Australia and half of Scotland turned up for their wedding at The Rhynd!
When we first spoke, Tyler and Sarah made it clear that they wanted their ceremony to be relaxed and casual but full of love, so I was really pleased when they sent me this email today, along with these great shots taken by Edinburgh-based documentary wedding photographer, Graeme McInnes
They also sent me a link to their fabulous movie, shot and edited by my old friend Adam Troup, AKA Inspire Video Looking at the gorgeous light, you’d think we were in Australia!
We just wanted to say a massive thank you to you for being part of our special day.
So many people said how great the ceremony was, and how well it was delivered by you!
We wanted it to be relaxed and casual but full of love, and you helped us to achieve that, so thank you.
Mission accomplished, Sarah & Tyler! Thanks so much for choosing me as your celebrant, and I wish you many happy years making more amazing friends in WA, enjoying sunset drinks on the beach, camping in remote regions, going out on the boat – and above all – avoiding being eaten by sharks and crocodiles!
Big thanks to Graeme McInnes and Adam Troup for their fabulous images too.
