Choosing the right celebrant makes all the difference, as I have written before.

When I trained in 2005, there were a about a dozen celebrants authorised to conduct legal marriage in Scotland; now there are literally hundreds, so where do you start?

Word of Mouse or Word of Mouth?

I’d do both. Ask your friends, of course, but the people who really know what’s what are the ones in the business, so speak to the wedding team at your venue. Ask your photographers, ask your videographers, and ask the musicians – they sit through more weddings than anyone!

Above all though, read the reviews. That’s the great strength of Social Media.
